FAQS: Is it an option for me to install my own dock? Is it an option for me to install my own dock? Yes, Maritime Dock Works offers a kit dock package complete with engineered plans. We can also provide an onsite technician to assist you with as much of the construction as you wish. What makes your dock better than other docks? There are several factors which decide the quality of a dock. These include size, spacing, and brand of floatation; height, wall thickness, and truss-work of substructure; size and wall thickness of columns; size and spacing of z-purlins, and gauge of roofing. Other things to consider are warranty, workmanship, and whether or not the components of the dock are galvanized. In our case, we use the heaviest of materials used in our industry, offer a 12 year limited warranty, galvanize all components, and provide superior workmanship through experience. What decking options do you offer? We currently offer the following decking options: We do offer solar power on our docks. Many factors determine the cost of this. Contact us for an estimate. Can you make my dock custom to my desires? Yes, Maritime Dock Works' design team can customize your dock to your desires, while still having the knowledge and experience to keep it within the requirements of the authorities on your lake. What makes your substructure design better than others? Our substructure offers a box truss design like none other. Our trusses are 18" long and peak at the top chord with no gap between them, unlike competitors who deliver a mock truss or no truss design. We also avoid compromising the top and bottom chords of the substructure by not putting universal holes in them that will not be used. The top and bottom chords are the back bone of your substructure, by placing holes in them, other dock builders compromise the structural integrity of their dock. A box truss design is important for the torsional rigidity it provides during storms where the superstructure (columns, purlins, and roofing) is catching wind and has a lifting/twisting force applied on the substructure. Why do you claim to have the best assembly method in the business? Maritime Dock Works has the best assembly method in the business because of several things. We use an entirely bolt together design to avoid welds that ruin the galvanizing or that break in rough water. We also run our finger sections all the way through our head pier sections. This prevents the fingers from sagging off of the head pier like you would see in a dock with a continuous head pier. Although this is a less cost effective way to assemble the dock, we feel that it is worth the added structural support it provides. When installing our superstructure our expertise is unsurpassed. We have a construction team that has learned all the tricks to putting your roof on without a sawtooth look you will get from most other dock builders. |
